Challenge

Developing a strategy for long-term profitable growth for a privately held luxury goods manufacturer with a uniquely strong brand and solid operational basis in the face of a rapidly evolving global marketplace and fierce national and international competition.


Implementation

A 3 step process which led to 3 decision workshops with the shareholders of the Group. Workshop 1:  Analysis of Company, Customers/Market and Competition. Workshop 2: Creation and First Discussion of Strategic Options. Workshop 3: Evaluation and Priorization  of Options, Decisions on the Way Forward and Development of Key Action Points for their Implementation.


Results

The Client has achieved profitable growth in competitive, mature markets, outperforming major competitors and thereby created a strong platform for further expansion. This was based on a clear decision on the success strategy for the next five years and key action points for its implementation. Consensus on the way forward for the Group was successfully facilitated between different shareholders with different interests and priorities. The resulting strategy was ambitious, but successfully implemented, because it did not only take into consideration the market, customers and competition of the client, but also a realistic evaluation of the strengths and potentials of the client organization and  a clear implementation plan, including milestones, measures for progress/success and follow-up. 

Leadership Development for a Global Player

Challenge

Designing and delivering a global development program for High Potentials that allows them to quickly and effectively develop their self management and self leadership skills and results.

 

Implementation

A series of highly interactive, results- and implementation-oriented training workshops delivered globally with a system of pre- and post-workshop support, including telephone coaching for high impact. Content and delivery were adjusted locally/culturally to make sure that the desired results were achieved in all locations and cultures.


Results

Dramatic increases in the job performance and results of the participants due to a clear focus on the key levers for improving personal effectiveness and management results.

Strategic Realignment of a Mechanical Engineering Company

Challenge

A newly appointed management team had to develop a strategy to reignite the growth of a medium-sized mechanical engineering company, part of a leading European engineering group. Key growth levers had to be identified, prioritized and converted into concrete action plans. Bottlenecks and organizational impediments for growth had to be identified and eliminated.


Implementation

A brief and focused consulting project which culminated in a decision workshop with the new top management team and key senior managers in which a detailed and integrated, strategically well-founded, action plan was agreed upon, including responsibilities, KPI's, milestones and follow-up.


Results

The action plan was successfully implemented and the Client Company achieved substantial profitable growth in the following years.The new management team achieved its ambitious goals and delivered another success story to its shareholder,  a leading European engineering group.

Dramatic Increase of Executive Performance at a High-End Software Developer

Challenge

Successfully managing large-scale, high profit-impact software development projects for delivery on time, in scope and on budget. Successfully negotiating with key clients, to solve critical problems and situations in a win-win way, thereby strengthening long-term client relationships and customer value creation. Leading technical stars well and keeping them with the company, in a very competitive job market for software development talent.

 

Implementation

A number of personal executive coaching sessions with the managing director of the Client Company. Additional coaching and implementation support via remote coaching.

 

Results

Successful continuation of the profitable growth path of the Client Company. The managing director was able to handle critical situations and critical relationships much more effectively and in less time than in the past. This allowed the managing director to focus his attention and time on creating and fostering the drivers and enablers of accelerated growth, instead of wasting his time with conflict management and resolution of problems from the past.

High-Output Self Management for A Leading Global Telecom Company

Goals

A management development initiative in which senior managers learn practical and sustainable methods to substantially enhance their self-management skills, and how to implement these new skills successfully in their daily work. This supports them to achieve positive and measurable change in behavior and increase their personal productivity dramatically (eg. targeted completion of the right tasks) as well as their productivity when working in/with a team (eg. productivity of meetings).


Content

In order to achieve sustainable change in behaviors the following cornerstones of successful self management were covered:

  1. Proactivity: Our thoughts, values and attitudes have substantial impact on ourselves, but also on others and the outside world. Participants  learn important principles of success and various methods of improving their mental proactiveness.
  2. Objectives: Personal goal setting is not a purely rational process. Goals have to fit one's own talents and life path. Various tools of target development are applied.
  3. Focus: Prioritization and concentration as a prerequisite for productivity, core measures for disciplined implementation, that increase managerial productivity.
  4. Self-Renewal: How to systematically self-renew, manage the personal energy level and increase personal resilience.


Results

High-Output Self Management Initiative with ROI > 50%. Based on the assumption of an average individual productivity increase per participant of 3%, the ROI (return-on-investment) of a single delivery of the training was expected to be 15%. In fact, with a suitable mix of adoption-support methods and tools, this training resulted in measurable, individual productivity gains of managers of up to 20%. Therefore the actual ROI of the initiative was well in excess of 50%.

Refocusing and Realigning the Leadership Culture and Practice of a Fast-Growing Engineering Company

Challenge

After a period of fast growth, the company needs to refocus and realign its leadership culture and practice. Top management and the executive team have been brought together from very different leadership and management cultures, Germanic and Anglo-Saxon, and a common language and approach to managing the organization need to be found in order to create a true high-performance culture. Growth related management issues, such as bringing the organizational structure and processes up to speed and avoiding burnout and motivational breakdowns of key talent must be effectively addressed.

 

Implementation

A bilingual, German and English, half year leadership program for three key management levels (top management, divisional management, project leader and product manager)  was implemented. This included a number of cross-functional and cross-hierarchical solution workshops to address key leadership and management challenges and create a common leadership culture and approach.

 

Results

Dramatic improvement of management productivity and results. Concrete solutions for important structural, motivational and management issues were found in a integrative process including several management levels and successfully implemented. Cultural differences in leadership styles and approaches are now recognized, appreciated and pro-actively used to increase organizational productivity.

A Biotech-Startup Masters the Next Growth Phase

Challenge

Top management of the Client has recognized the need for developing the leadership competences of its management team and key scientific talent in order to be able to master the next growth phase.


Implementation

Based on a strategic analysis of the key competences required for the next growth phase, a customized training workshop for the management team and key scientific talent was developed and delivered, which focused on performance management, giving and receiving feedback, effective communication and conflict resolution. One of the key methods of the workshop was action learning, whereby participants worked with practical case studies and role-plays of real-life situations in order to kickstart a fast and effective learning, implementation and continuous improvement process.

 

Results

The Client Company masters the next growth phase successfully. The management team and key scientific talent know how to handle critical people-management issues and situations and have the confidence, practical tools and the experience of their application from the workshop at their disposal for effective action.
